My Current Favourite Beauty Products

Hello beauties!

It’s been awhile since I write about skincare or any beauty products. So today, as promised on my previous post I’m going to share with you some of my current favourite beauty products. You can call this a mini-review. There’s not much though because I’m kind of still in a trauma from using too much or too ‘powerful’ product.

If you didn’t know yet, last November was a terrific moment for my skin. Read here. I am so glad my skin is now getting much much better!

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

This cleanser is a saviour! At first it was sooo weird to cleanse my face with a non-soap liquid. But it actually works fine with me. Since now my skin type has changed to dry/sensitive skin, soapy-foamy face wash just won’t do anymore goodness to my skin. I did a little (or maybe hours, daily and weekly) research, a gentle cleanser is what I need to take care of my current skin type. What I love the most about this cleanser? Well it’s…gentle?! And it’s fragrance-free too. I used to love anything with a good smells of fragrance but I now realized it’s not an option for anyone who’s got a sensitive skin. I reallyyyy hope my skin will love this cleanser for a long time because finding another one is truly a struggle. It’s my second bottle now, so fingers crossed!

Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion

I just started using this lotion on December and all I can say so far is, it really moisturizes my skin well. Really helps my dry forehead and nose. I bought the trial size packed together with the 59ml gentle cleanser. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if this lotion will do any wonders apart from hydrating but for now I’m gonna let it just do what its supposed to do because I’m loving the moist feeling and at least in my case, I can still feel the moisture until the end of the day where I wipe off my makeup! Aiming the one with SPF now.

Also, I noticed my acne healed fast than usually too! Hopefully it’s the Cetaphil magic!

Nano Intensive Brightening Serum

As you can see it’s an empty bottle, a proof that I use it til the very last drop and a proof of me loving this serum. I have freckles since I was 12 maybe, and started to get lots of sun spots during my 20s and that’s because I.did.not.wear.any.sunscreen! Not until I reached 25. I know it’s crazy and I’m living in a hot-all-year country. Okay…back to the serum, it helps in reducing the dark spots yay! The sad part was, it took such a long time to reduce them. Or maybe it’s just me being impatient. Only when the serum left with about 10% then I could see the results. Well at least there is something. Oh it’s affordable too compared to some fantastic serum out there that I could never afford.

Biore UV Aqua Rich SPF 50+

This one, well not really a favorite but a currently must-use since my moisturizer didn’t have the sun protection formula. What I like about this sunscreen is, it has this BB essence which looks like I had apply a real BB cream in a very light way. Of course it didn’t cover up my blemishes but somehow I like how it looks like on my face once I dab my compact powder on top of it.

Pink Cashmere Fine Fragrance Mist by Bath & Body Works

I don’t really buy perfume now but this fragrance mist from BBW is an exception. I’m so in love with its smooth and sweet smells. Even my husband doesn’t care if he smells like a girl; he loves it too! For some reason, it stays all day on me since I not only spray it randomly on my body but I delicately spray on my pulse. I’ve read somewhere though that this fragrance mist (perhaps anything from BBW or VS too) is full with harmful chemical but hey just let this girl finish this one bottle okay lol! I… might repurchase though 😂

So I guess that’s it. 😊 Thanks so much for reading. Any of you using the same products as well? Any tips for a sensitive skin? Just comment down below!

My Skin Reactions To A New Skincare And How I Treat It

Hello guys!

As mentioned on my previous post, my new post will be a beauty talks of my own current skin conditions.

If you’ve been following me, you will know that I got applied some new products into my skincare routine which was a product that is contained with ingredients such as AHA BHA PHA claiming to be good for a glowing skin. Well, it did do the wonders after a good 2 weeks of using it. However, I guess I got a little greed that I thought if I keep generously using it, it would maintain the glow and I was wrong! My bad!! My bad!!

After a month of using it as you can see on the picture above, I got more small bumps and cystic acne (or closed comedones) on my forehead and some on my cheek. At this point, I thought it’s probably caused by my menstrual cycle is around the corner so I still applies the same product but not so often.

A week after that, my skin went raged! More little bumps and very itchy! Also, at the same time of the itchiness, they’re stinging burning!! I immediately stopped with the product. I made a quick conclusion like this: I overused it then my skin type suddenly changed to dry/sensitive from a combination/oily. So I bought a new face wash which was specifically for a dry/sensitive skin type. Na’aah nope! That didn’t work too. My skin feels even more dry, itchy and burning!! I did layered hyaluronic toner which I believe a good hydrating toner, and moisturizer but didn’t work either. My skin just speak “damaged!

What did I do then?

Special thanks to my sweet friend Fay for the recommendation of using this cheapest method ever! ❤

It’s OLIVE OIL! Well of course at first I feel like there’s no hope and contemplating if putting oil on my damaged skin was a good idea.

Since I’m afraid it won’t work, I bought this small cheap bottle (exactly the one that Fay suggested me to buy) instead of the one that we usually have in our kitchen. Oil on top of dry skin? Okay. But…pimples, seriously? I tried anyway and soooo glad I did! Thanks again Fay!

I used it as a moisturizer at first, the itchiness and burning just gone in a second! Of course at first it feels awkward with that oily-but-not-too-much texture, but now after 4 days, I think I can tolerate it. I even use it as a face cleanser starting today because I’m losing faith on my current foamy face wash. This girl here used to think that, foamy equals to squicky clean and clear. But of course, it might be different for you and how your skin reacts.

4 days ago VS today

A lot of improvement, please say yes?!!!

As of today, I realized there’ll be itching here and there if I used too much on my skin. Read: serum, moisturizer, sunscreen and compact powder. I will keep that in mind and try my best to refrain applying more than needed. For the time being, I am still in a healing process and if by any chance one of you come across with me, please say hi and don’t run away, it’s me not ghost! 😝 I’ll wear lipstick at least 😉

So I guess “expensive” skincare products doesn’t suit me or I just didn’t find the right one yet. Fingers crossed my skin will get even better after this!

That’s all for today. Thanks for reading.

Love, Mich 🌸

Review: Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Toner and Miracle Cream

If you’ve read my Today’s Journal #8, I mentioned about this skincare briefly and by now I’ve been using it for 30 days.

First of all, I’m thankful to be picked as one of the participants in this Miracle Review Campaign; received free two items, test it and give it a review at the end of this month.

My skin type & condition: Combination, dull skin, dark spots, open pores, blackhead

To begin with, I don’t normally have pimples except around my menstrual cycles but I guess due to over exposed to the sun while camping few months ago, without any layer of protection on my face (I know I’m bad) my forehead got a little dry than ever and its trigger the pimples to go out!

The Skincare Claims:

Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Toner

Works as effective exfoliator to leave skin cleaner and more radiant than before.

  • Skin Exfoliation
  • Pore Tightening
  • Hydration
  • Brighter Skin Tone

Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Cream

A lightweight gel cream moisturizer perfect for all skin types especially for oily and acne-prone.

  • Skin Barrier
  • Damage Care
  • Skin Soothing
  • Anti-inflammatory

Application: After cleansing, I apply the toner on my face and neck with cotton pad. Then I apply the cream.

My thoughts: On the first day when I applied this toner, it stings but only on both sides of my nose. At the end of the first week, I realized some of the tiny acne scars were gone. Second week, less pimples on my forehead and my dark spots were lightened a bit (not sure if it’s from this product or from my current intensive brightening serum?). I can say, my skin looks more radiant. In week three, my skin purge! But not that bad though, the pimples on my forehead came back and it started with bumps then redness with a little pus. I decided to let the cotton pad sit on that area for a few seconds, and after 3-4 days they started to dry up. Final thoughts, I still have those tiny bumps and they’re actually a lot than before or maybe because it’s 2 days to my expected menstrual cycle. I don’t think I can achieve a miraculous flawless skin in just 30 days with these two items. Perhaps I need more time if I wish to continue with this product.

Pros: Purges the acne but later will heal and minimizes pore for smoother skin. One bottle of toner probably will last for more than a month. Mine still have about 80% left.

Cons: A bit drying for my combination skin type (dry forehead, oily nose) so I need to layer a hydrating toner.

Since my previous skincare doesn’t do any wonders too, I think I’m going to continue using these product for my evening routine.

*updates 13/11/2018*

I did includes these two items for my evening routine and suddenly I got a shocking reaction since two days ago! I got more of that tiny bumps or maybe they’re now rashes because it’s so itchy, red and uncomfortable! Even my skin type is now changing to dry from combination/oily. What makes me so sure this is allergic reaction and not purging? It’s painful! Itchy but at the same time it’s stinging all over my face. There’s no way I would continue again. Perhaps AHA BHA PHA does not suit me. My best advice, do your patch test before anything else.
